The team

Swing Busters dance school was established by Janek and Áňa in October 2011.
We teach weekly Lindy Hop classes to beginners, intermediate and advanced dancers, and our current teaching team is Janek, Áňa, Štěpán, Jíťa, Klára, Michael, Eva, Eliška, Zuzka, Martin and our foreigner teachers Guillaume and Marine from France.
We love sharing our favourite dance in public classes, and we organise workshops and dance parties both in Prague and around the Czech Republic from time to time. We also perform at balls and at company parties.

The Lindy Hop is a partnered swing dance which evolved in Harlem, New York, in the 1920s and 1930s. Our lessons teach you Lindy Hop dance steps and moves in a fun way. They also teach you how to communicate in couples so that you can dance with anybody to any kind of swing music, and how to create a playful, fun and expressive dance. For that reason, our classes focus not only on steps, but also on the principles of leading and following, on mutual inspiration and on how to improvise to the music.

We love hearing your ideas and suggestions, and are always happy to create tailor-made projects together with you. You can hire us for weekend workshops, and for performances or taster classes at company parties, and we can also organise dance parties at both indoor and outdoor venues.

We are happy to answer your questions about swing dancing and everything else connected to this fabulous, fun dance.

We have a Facebook page where you can find all the latest news and also a FB group where we communicate together with our students.

Áňa

Áňa

She laughs a lot, with you, at you, at herself, at anybody, all with a good spirit. Nevertheless, she likes to be strict at times too so get ready for some serious learning if you have the ambition :).
She loves to dance everything and she loves to teach everybody.

You can tell who is the hyperactive in the room. Despite being a full time student, she appears to be there where crazy ideas are born and she tries to make them all happen. So if you have any, come to her and she’ll do her best to help you out with your idea of dance fun :).

Janek

Janek

He always knew he wanted to dance, but he had to find his way through sports such as basketball and ice hokey.
Swing dance caught his eye with its fun, diversity and playfulness which has never ceased to amaze him.
His goal is to make dancers dance to the music as an inspirational element not only as a rhythm keeper. He likes to inspire newcomers to find their love for swing as well as to keep improving the skills of dancers around him.

Keep on swingin´

Jíťa

Jíťa

Music & dance has been a part of her life since she was a kid. She likes all sorts of different styles but Swing and Lindy hop spoke to her through the outstanding possibility to express freely without many strict rules and to have lots of fun.
For her, couple dancing is a perfect example of the ability to agree on things with anyone, if we are willing to do so. :)

Klára

Klára

She began her dance career at the age of three, dancing in her parents living room. Since then, feeling encouraged to do some more, she studied a bit here and there of gymnastics, modern jazz dance, ballroom dance, belly dance, contemporary dance and even ballet. In 2009 she dug out the Lindy hop and dug into it. Swing dance, for her, gives her the freedom to express herself the way she wants.
When teaching, she likes to focus on the basis of the dance and likes to explore the wide possibilities of the movement, the cooperation of the two dance partners and the individual expression of them both.

Eva

Eva

Dance is her life companion. She focuses on Czech folk dance and swing dance.
She loves to bal, to lindy, even to shag (dance ;)). Eva is our sweet newest teachers with a great talent and a smile that will lighten you up after a hard day at work. :)

Michael

Michael

He fell for couple dancing and swing music 20 years ago. So when the Lindy hop found its way back to the Czech republic, he was between the first ones who jumped in.
He wants to see people listening to the music and moving to it whilst having fun in the couple. So come to learn with him how to couple dance, not how to do steps only.

Guillaume

Guillaume

Guillaume discovered Lindy Hop in Paris end of 2012, then spent several months in Montreal in 2013 to be trained by the Studio 88. Since November 2014, Guillaume taught in Brno for the Swing Wings school and has been also regularly teaching in Vienna for the schools Some Like it Hot and Ig Hop. He regularly trains and travels to different swing events to social dance, perform in shows, take part in competitions, teach and share his love and passion for dance.

Marine

Marine

Marine has been dancing since she was 4 years old. After years of solo dancing, she began learning Lindy Hop in Leeds in the UK while she was there studying in 2012. She used to teach Lindy Hop and solo Jazz Roots and Charleston in Paris, France, afterwards. She met Guillaume for the first time during the Paris Lindy Exchange in 2013 and formed together a partnership that has been flourishing ever since.

Eliška

Eliška

She is devoted to music since childhood and has been dancing since she was 10. From modern/musical dance and hip hop she got to lindy hop, which amazed her with its playfulness, variety and the connection to swing music. Lindy was soon followed by balboa and blues; she says that shag is up next J While dancing she tries to listen to the music and adapt the steps to the overall feeling of the song. She also pays attention to coordination and the flow of movement – both within the individual and the couple. Most of the time you can see her frolicking on the dancefloor, but she might be seen on the stage as well, behind the microphone. Even there she will be swinging to the rhythm though, because this music doesn’t keep her calm.

Zuzka

Zuzka

Everything has started with ballet! She discovered swing dances not so long ago, and more she danced more she was into them. When she found out that swing is not only lindy hop, but also balboa and collegiate shag (and others), she wasn’t spotted anywhere else then among the swing dancers.
She’s been doing shag for two years. She likes to attend workshops in the Czech Republic, as well as abroad, and she’d like to help expand the local shag community.
Everybody is crazy about Stephen and Chanzie, but her idols are British Aila Floyd and Peter Ayres.
She likes to explore the mechanics of the dance and to find out the way to dance more naturally and comfortably.
Her goal is to share her experience and tips to all who fall for this dance.

Johannes

Johannes

Johannes dove straight into the world of swing in 2012 in Leipzig, Germany. Since then he tries to learn everything that this awesome social dance has to offer. To do that, he spends a lot of time watching and analysing videos and then training the material. From April 2014 he has had the opportunity to pass on the aesthetics and principles of swing dancing as a swing-dance teacher. What he loves on Balboa is the ease of movement and at the same time its great complexity. In lindy hop, he enjoys the playfulness and motion of the whole body. As a musician he finds it exciting to act as a band member on the dancefloor and to contribute to the music with the right rhythms and figures. Johannes sees magic in the fact that the two partners move as one body, no matter what their skills are – the dance is about having a good time together!

Martin

Martin

Martin’s journey to swing was long and interesting, he went through many different fields of movement such as sing-i-čchüan, ninjutsu, couple akrobatics, street dance and modern dance. For him, all coordinated movements of two individuals, whether it’s martial art, acroyoga washing machine or dance have got the same root – the so much fascinating energy flow.
He got hooked on swing for its positivity, spontaneity, fun, endless forms of moves and genius principle of lead & follow. He loves to explore the mechanics of movement, why does it not always work and what to fix to make it smooth again.

Šárka

Šárka

Šárka has been dancing since she was 4 years old so guess how good she is now! She started with tap dance first, later on decided for a proper dance career and completed her studies of Dance Pedagogy at Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
She is a full time dance teacher and performer. You might have seen her in lyricalKudykam, and musicals Quasimodo, Aida, Phantom of the Opera…or nowadays at the National Theatre swinging with other Swing Busters teachers in a play My heart beats to the rhythm of swing!
Or come to take classes with her to improve your dance abilities or your posture in general :)!

Jitka

Jitka
